al di Non (the Non Valley) stretches between the Noce river and Lake Santa Giustina in Cles and further along the banks of Rio Novella to San Felice in the province of Bolzano. It is accessible from the Val di Sole (across Passo Tonale-Lombardy), from the Adige valley (Mezzocorona), across Passo Mendola (via Caldaro, South Tyrol) or across Passo Palade (from Merano).

Castel Thun

This castle is a true gem, the symbol of the ancient glories of one of the most powerful and rich families of Trentino, the Tono family.

Castel Thun is one of the most well-preserved monumental medieval buildings in Trentino, and it has always been the main residence of the powerful Thun family. Austere and majestic, this castle reflects the character of the Thun family, who chose it as their main residence around the mid-13th century. At the end of the middle ages, the Thun family extended their dominion to most of the Noce Valley, incorporating castles and jurisdictions. Since then, they remained one of Trentino’s most powerful families. With our Trentino Guest Card, you can visit the castle for free.

San Romedio

The Sanctuary of San Romedio is one of Europe’s most characteristic hermitages. It is situated on a 70 m steep rocky spur in Val di Non.

According to the legend, Saint Romedius lived here as a hermit for many years with a bear. The Sanctuary of San Romedio consists of five churches or chapels built on a steep rocky spur and are connected by a spectacular flight of 131 steps. This is one of Trentino’s most famous pilgrimage places.

Rio Sass Canyon

A breathtaking 2-hour trail between walkways and steep walls. Rio Sass Canyon is a maze dug in nature and transformed into a fascinating trail.

The Canyon has been shaped by the Rio Sass river and stretches from Lake Smeraldo up to the apple orchards below the town of Fondo, dividing it into two. The old part of the gorge can be freely accessed and skirts the watercourse up to the town city centre. The new part of the gorge is deeper and more complicated and can be visited upon registration.

Mendola Pass

The Mendola Pass is situated between the provinces of Trento and Bolzano and connects Upper Val di Non with Bolzano.

Numerous trails branch out from the Mendola Pass, such asPenegal, Toval, the Austrian Archduke Eugen military road, Macaion, and Roen. The Mendola Pass can be reached via Caldaro, taking the funicular. Upstream the funicular station, there is a viewpoint overlooking Oltradige and Bassa Atesina.

Lake Tovel

This unique lake used to turn red at a particular time of the year due to a particular alga.

Lake Tovel is one of the most spectacular and famous lakes of the Trentino Alps. In the ‘60s, this lake used to turn red due to a particular alga. The disappearance of this effect may be due to the pollution that accompanied mass tourism in this area. This lake belongs to the Noce watershed, a major tributary of river Adige. It measures 360,000 sq.m in surface area and 39 metres in depth. This lake is surrounded by a trail from where you can admire it from every corner.

Spormaggiore Wild Park

Here is where you can watch brown bears, wolves, lynxes and other animals that live in our mountains.

The Spormaggiore Wild Park is a themed park that houses typical animals of the Alpine areas. It is located in the municipality of Spormaggiore, on the Paganella plateau. This three-hectare area is home to some Alpine carnivores that are usually difficult to find or no longer live in the Alpine territory. A visit is recommended for families and animal lovers. The park also includes a catering area.
